Kendal Rugby club to relocate

Kendal Rugby Club has announced overwhelming support from its members to relocate from their existing ground at Mint Bridge on Shap Road in the town to a new purpose-built state of the art site at Strawberry Fields on Oxenholme Road, to the south of Kendal. Work is underway on submitting a planning application for the redevlopment of Mint Bridge by a developer, coupled with an application for consent to the new facility.

The new ground would comprise a 2-storey clubhouse with changing rooms, fitness facilities, balcony stand, 200 space car park and 3 floodlit pitches on a 15 acre site. Peill & Company has a long involvement with Kendal RUFC and have been advising the club's board on the relocation. A recent EGM of the club saw over 100 members vote unanimously in favour of the proposals.

Rugby has been played at Mint Bridge since 1925, and it is hoped that the relocation will take place in around 3 years' time. Kendal were promoted this season back to League 3 North, and further information concerning the club is available on their website at www.kendal-rugby.com
