Work has recently been completed on the second phase of the refurbishment of the former BT Exchange on Cecil Street in Carlisle to create a mixed use development comprising 63 bedroomed Travelodge Hotel (Phase 1 – which opened in April 2008) and 10,861sq ft of office and ancillary accommodation.
The second phase will be completed at the beginning of August and comprises two separate ground floor office units together with self contained offices at first floor level and extensive storage accommodation within the basement. The refurbished property offers the following accommodation:-
Ground Floor
Unit 1 - 2,142 sq ft
Unit 2 – 1,539 sq ft
First Floor
Offices – 7,180sq ft
Basement
Storage – 8,116 sq ft
The offices have been refurbished to a high standard and are ready for immediate occupation. Simon Adams commented “we have received interest in the whole of the accommodation and also in various component parts. The ground floor in particular appears to be popular with companies who require a quasi retail presence since the units have direct access from Cecil Street”. Each part of the accommodation offers disabled access, there being lift access to the first floor which also has its own self contained entrance from Cecil Street. Peill & Company have advised the developer, F&C Asset Management in the acquisition of the building, its refurbishment and the subsequent lettings to Travelodge and the offices.
